How does education affect gentrification?

A
  • May be education led, parents especially may want their child to go to rural areas where they may have high-performing schools - particularly the prestigious ones in the countryside
    -This can lead for family orientated spaces in gentrification (Smith and Higley, 2012)

What is the Neighbourhood effect?

  • Gentrification may create a neighbourhood effect - improvements to schools and public services (Freeman, 2012)
  • Bc of wealthier individuals sending their kids to private or state schools outside their home areas - could be due to a few different regions

Why is gentrification UK and US-centric?

A
  • Rural gentrification finds little or no acceptance in some other countries (Outside the UK and US) (Phillips, 2010)
  • Country and regionally - specific motivations (and socio-cultural contexts for moving (Charney and Palgi, 2014)
