Why is their rural youth migration?

A
  • Lack of ‘quality’ employment for younger people (Shucksmith, 2000)
    Lack of employment opportunities in rural locations there is a lack of higher education so they migrate to the city as there are better opportunities there
  • Loss of younger people aged 20-30 compared to the national average
  • Due to education and jobs

  • There is a lack of resources and facilities linked to education but also social facilities like nightlife etc - Young people especially crave this and move to urban localities to look for that

  • This could be due to the parish councils, which are usually run by much older members of the community
  • Quite a centric thinking system and they may feel like they are trapped within this lifestyle
