A
- Lack of ‘quality’ employment for younger people (Shucksmith, 2000)
Lack of employment opportunities in rural locations there is a lack of higher education so they migrate to the city as there are better opportunities there - Loss of younger people aged 20-30 compared to the national average

Q
What did Powell et al 2013 suggest
A
- There is a lack of resources and facilities linked to education but also social facilities like nightlife etc - Young people especially crave this and move to urban localities to look for that
4
Q
Why do young people feel like their voice is not heard in rural locations?
A
- This could be due to the parish councils, which are usually run by much older members of the community
- Quite a centric thinking system and they may feel like they are trapped within this lifestyle
5
Q
Why would they want to break the patriarchal lifestyle?
A
- The countryside is an agriculture-male-dominated place and females especially young women may feel marginalised within this context - not generalised to all rural areas!!!!!!

Q
What did Farrugia 2016 suggest?
A
- ‘Youthful subjectivities’ are associated with urban locations, for example, social media stars and inspirational people that young people tend to follow tend to be urban located
- In the countryside, there are fewer role models and cultural templates that young people can relate to.
