Why are the Elderly Community marginalised?
A
- Elderly are discarded in rural communities
- Retirement is seen as a state of dependency
- Social and cultural separation of retired and non-retired

Why are the elderly consumers in the rural countryside?
A
- They have been one of the groups that have been impacted by the service decline
- For example, they have an increasing dependency on cars and this is due to lack of services and the need to travel to places like doctors for example

- With the advances in technology there has been less face-to-face contact in particular services for example banks
- These key digital reconstitutions of key services make it difficult for the elderly as they have not been brought up with technology so may find It hard to keep up with these services

- Dominance of rural institutions and public spaces by heterosexual groups and the nuclear family
- Heteronoativity and hegemonic relations within Agriculture (Hoffelmeyer, 2021) - male dominated
