- Icosahedral , no envelope
- Epitheliotropic, needs keratin for replication
- Oncogene
- Stenoxen
- hidden, latent infection
- Highly resistant

Pathogenesis
shed from superficial cells,
- warts contain large amount of infectious virus
- proliferation of st. germanitivum - cauliflower like
- warts are benign, no viraemia
- heal without scaring

- BPV-1,2,3: all over the body
- BPV-4: intestine
- BPV-5,6: udder skin
- frequently different straints in the same animal

Clinical Signs
- Millet-sized, greyish, stuffed, non-painful nodules near *natural body orifices
- warts in udder-> inc. chance for mastitis
