Paper Sessions Flashcards
List the stages of a SC
- First stage
- when SC is set up: “Emerging or new SC” - Growth stage
- improvement in performance and stability of SC and processes and their enabling technologies - mature stage
- reached when demands are stable with high certainty
- strong + reliable SC processes + technologies (no big changes) - declining stage
- less throughput, due to market shrinkage or new SCs
What are the stages of a SC lifecycle?
How does the SC of Auto Industry evole?
-more software in vehicles
→ new collaborations
-conventionally vehicles still dominant
→SC is initially transitioning but slow
How does the SC of Aerospace industry evole?
-radical innovation in airplane assembly
→ radically new SC with much higher outsourcing
→ upstream supllier have problems, leading to long delays
→ different SC then in the beginning
How does the SC of the Electronic industry evolve?
-growing and maturing SC
→ caused by rapidly increasing technologies (e.g data storage: 8MB to GB)
How does the SC in the Clothing industry evolve?
-great changes in the location of plants
-no trade barriers
→ more capacity in Asia + e-commerce enhancing
→ no radical technology changes: automation in cutting, but still a lot of human impact
How does the SC of the Steel industry evolve?
-mature Supply Chain
→ last big invention in the 70s
→ growing variety
→ stable structure due to mature technologies
