  1. First stage
    - when SC is set up: “Emerging or new SC”
  2. Growth stage
    - improvement in performance and stability of SC and processes and their enabling technologies
  3. mature stage
    - reached when demands are stable with high certainty
    - strong + reliable SC processes + technologies (no big changes)
  4. declining stage
    - less throughput, due to market shrinkage or new SCs
