High altitude sickness or mountain sickness definition
Condition characterised by “adverse effects of hypoxia “ At high altitude
- developed in persons going to high altitude for the “first tym”
- occurs with in a day before they get acclimatised
Symptoms of altitude sickness
Digestive system
Cvs respiratory system, nervous system
1) digestive - loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting becoz of gases expansion
2) cvs - HR⬆️, heart contraction ⬆️
3) respiratory - BP increase due to⬆️ blood flow, die to vasodilation blood flow ⬆️ , causes pulmonary edema causes breathlessness
4) nervous system - cerebral edema
Transport of carbondioxide
CO2 is transported from cells to alveoli of lungs by blood from cells in 4 forms
1) as dissolved form 7%
2) as carbonic acid (less)
3) as bicarbonate 63%
4) as carbamino compounds 30%
