Muscles, hip up
Latissimus dorsi, abdominals, pectorals, trapezius, bicep, tricep, deltoid.
Muscles, hip down
Hip flexors, gluteals, hamstrings, quadriceps, gastrocnemius, tibialis anterior.
What is a fixator?
-this is the muscle that stabilised the joint. It does not move but it contracts to stabilise the joint (and keep it where it should be).
Antagonist muscles
-the antagonist muscle relaxes, this always gets longer.
-come in antagonistic muscle pairs.
-when one contracts and shortens(agonist) the other relaxes and lengthens(antagonist). E.g biceps and triceps.
Agonist muscles
-agonist is the contracting muscle and will always get shorter.
-comes in antagonistic muscle pairs.
-when one contracts and shortens(agonist) the other relaxes and lengthens(antagonist).
What are the three different types of muscles?
- Cardiac muscle
- Skeletal/voluntary muscle
- Involuntary muscle
