What is first indication of pantograph fault?

A

High Voltage Presence Light fails to illuminate after 30 seconds

What do you do if Panto fails to raise?

A

Check voltmeter for battery power

If no volts check battery box isolation switch

If isolated report to TC

If not isolated - and volts none or under 90 - train disabled

If volts above 90 and Panto not raising what do you do?

A

Check Panto control buttons not latched in

Attempt to raise from another cab

If they fail to raise check 3 way switch in saloon is in automatic position - right of door 4 TC

Inspect Panto 1 and 2 CBs are set left of door 2 TC

How do you isolate Pantos?

A

Stable train

Observe defective Panto lowered

Put three way switch (left door 4) to manual lowering and isolated position

Activate leading cab to raise other Panto

If it has failed to lower, manually lower and isolate.

What is procedure to coast under obstruction?

A

Panto test - 10 seconds

EMS No. 1 (holding brake inhibit)

Apply power

Gather speed, push Panto buttons

When all T Cars through bring train to stand

EMS TO No. 2

Ensure pantos clear and press Panto buttons again
