Pancreatic Carcinoma Presentation

A
  • Vague and nonspecific
  • Epigastric discomfort, dull back ache
  • Painless, progressive, obstructive jaundice
  • Tumours in body and tail much less likely to cause obstruction
  • Presentation may be due to paraneoplastic diseases e.g. thromboembolic
  • Pancreatitis may be presentation
  • WL, anorexia
  • Steatorrhoea, mass
  • Corvoisier’s sign

A
  • Surgical resection offers cure however only 10-20% are resectable
  • Unresectable disease
  • Palliative
  • Coeliac plexus block may help to control pain which can be severe and resistant
