A
- Increasing age
- Male sex
- H. pylori
- Diet
- Smoking

Gastric Carcinoma Presentation
A
- Non-specific symptoms, clinical diagnosis inaccurate
- Dyspepsia, WL, vomiting, dysphagia, anaemia
- Most only have symptoms of dyspepsia
- Most present with advanced disease and alarm symptoms (WL, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, anaemia)
- Bad prognostic indicators: epigastric mass, hepatomegaly, Troisier’s sign, acanthuses nigricans

Gastric Carcinoma Referral (2 week-wait)
A
- Any age with dypepsia and the following
- Chronic GI bleed
- Progressive dysphagia
- WL
- Iron-deficiency anaemia
- Epigastric mass
- Suspicious barium meal result
- If over 55 with unexplained and persistent recent-onset dyspepsia
- Anyone with dysphagia, upper abdo pain with WL, upper abdo mass, obstructive jaundice
- Worsening of dyspepsia with RFs (Barrett’s, pernicious anaemia, peptic ulcer surgery >20 years previously)

A
- FBC, LFTs
- Endoscopy
- Biopsy all ulcers

Gastric Carcinoma Management
A
- Screen for nutritional deficiency
- Treat pain, nausea, constipation, depression, mouth care
- Surgery is mainstay
- Peri-operative chemotherapy
