Factors Influencing Pain Exp:

  • pt fear of cause of pain
  • psychological stressors & past pain experiences
  • pain threshold

Clinician Response:

  • empathy
  • concern/belief
  • listen
  • not be condescending
  • if you believe and affirm their pain it may help alleviate the pain they are having
