What are the three types of pain?
Nociceptive - damage to body tissue, subsequent inflammation
Neuropathic - direct damage to nerves, burning, shooting, tingling pain
Nociplastic - changes in sensory neuron function
What is primary vs secondary chronic pain?
Typically neuropathic or nociplastic, primary is 1_ anatomical regions with 3+ months pain, not accounted by another diagnosis.
Secondary is due to another health condition, but may still be present once condition is treated.
What is part of the chronic pain cycle?
Fatigue, stress, diet, relationship, sleep, depression, physical, disability.
What is fibromyalgia?
Abnormal processing of pain in CNS, hyperresponsivity to touch with particular tender spots. Symptoms of fibro-fog (issues with concentrating).
What is the biopsychosocial model of pain?
One’s medical condition is not simply biological, also consider psycho and social factors
