Founded again in Georgia, 1915. Now against everyone. Peak 4 million people. 1930, 10,000 members.

1925, John T. Scope arrested for teaching the theory of evolution.
Republicans
No longer moderated government.
FL land boom
early 1920s. Sales slumped 1926; Hurricane in September ended boom.
Flappers
Women with short hair, and wore short skirts and stockings below knees.
1928 election
Herbert Hoover vs. Al Smith. Herbert Hoover won.
Factors to the Great Depression
- Too much buying
- Too much being produced when people stopped buying
- Lots being bought on credit
- Farm overproduction, and Europe was no longer buying
- 1/20 bought into the stock market, and the market continued rising upwards.
Stock market crash
Summer, 1929, record highs. Two hints: a) too many people’s wealth was in stocks and b) slowdown in buying. Slowed in fall, crashed on October 29.
Panic after stock market
Brokers => investors pay off margin; banks asked for money from brokers that they had borrowed, and millions withdrew money from the bank.
