αὐτὰρ ἐπεὶ πλῦνάν τε κάθηράν τε ῥύπα πάντα,
ἑξείης πέτασαν παρὰ θῖν᾽ ἁλός, ἧχι μάλιστα
λάιγγας ποτὶ χέρσον ἀποπλύνεσκε θάλασσα.
αἱ δὲ λοεσσάμεναι καὶ χρισάμεναι λίπ᾽ ἐλαίῳ
δεῖπνον ἔπειθ᾽ εἵλοντο παρ᾽ ὄχθῃσιν ποταμοῖο,
εἵματα δ᾽ ἠελίοιο μένον τερσήμεναι αὐγῇ.
αὐτὰρ ἐπεὶ σίτου τάρφθεν δμῳαί τε καὶ αὐτή,
σφαίρῃ ταὶ δ᾽ ἄρ᾽ ἔπαιζον, ἀπὸ κρήδεμνα βαλοῦσαι:
τῇσι δὲ Ναυσικάα λευκώλενος ἤρχετο μολπῆς.
But when they had washed and cleaned all the dirty clothes, they spread them out in a row along the sea-shore, just where the sea kept on washing away the pebbles to the dry land. After bathing and rubbing themselves richly with oil, they then took their lunch to the riverbank, while the clothes remained drying in the rays of the sun. But when they had enjoyed the food, both the slave-girls and Nausicaa herself then began to play with a ball, throwing off their headwear; and Nausicaa, white-armed, began to lead them in song.
