supportive tx
fever, conjunctivitis, maculopapular rash on face/neck then hands/feet, mouth = white spots surrounded by red ring
measles - notify HPU
supporting tx
vaccinate close contacts and offer vac after acute episode
safety net for encephalitis + SSPE
headache, no fever,
pink maculopapular rash starts on face then -> whole body
lymphadenopathy
red spots on soft palette
Rubella (german weasels)
notify HPU
safety net for haemorrhage complications due to thrombocytopenia
red ‘slapped cheek’ rash on face then 1w later, maculopapular rash on face/trunk (‘lace pattern”)
preceeded by coryzal disease
parvovirus B19
no need to stay off school
crops of itchy vesicles on face/neck/trunk
vesicles in diff stages (some papule, some vesicles, some crusted over already)
chicken pox supportive tx (no ibuprofen), keep off school till
painful itchy vesicles on hand/foot/mouth
fever, sore throat, spots in mouth that develop into ulcers
hand, foot and mouth disease (coxsackie A16)
supportive Tx
high fever and malaise -> small pink spots rash that starts on neck/body and spreads to arms
no kopek spots
roseala infantum (HHV8) stay off school, safety net for inc risk febrile convulsions
stridor in kid, drooling, tripod position, rapid onset
acute epiglottis
kid with bloody stools and reduced feeding, xray = dilated bowel loops and bowel wall oedema, intramural gas

treatment for kawasaki’s
IVIG (gamma globulin)
A swelling on a neonate’s head that does not cross suture lines and will self-resolve over several weeks
Cephalohaematoma
A transient swelling particular to babies delivered using a Ventouse
Chignon
A rare but dangerous complication that causes a diffusely boggy scalp on examination
Subaponeurotic haemorrhage
Oedema and bruising of the skull that crosses suture lines and will dissipate in a few days
