What does the aconym PEPE relate to?
PEPE Acronym for SUDI – place baby in own bed, eliminate smoking, position baby flat on back, encourage/support mum to breastfeed
What age are well child checks completed?
(6mths – 5yrs) – growth, developmental milestones, vision, hearing, oral checks, immunisations, support and education
What is PEDS assessment and when would it be completed?
an evidence-based method for detecting and addressing developmental, behavioural and social-emotional/mental health concerns in children under eight years - for when parents have concerns

A = Airway - secretions, stridor, foreign body
B = Breathing – RR, sp02, physical assessment, auscultation
C = Circulation – colour, HR, capillary refill, temp of hands/feet
D = Disability – Pupils, limb tone/movement, AVPU score/GCS
E = Exposure – full exam, have they been exposed to anything??
EENT = Eyes, Ears, Nose & Throat
T = Temp
T = Tummy
U = Urinalysis
DEFG = Don’t ever forget GLUCOSE!!!
Explain the Vulnerable Children’s Act (2014)
The act aims to enhance the protection and well-being of vulnerable children, particularly those at risk of abuse or neglect. The Act established a framework for inter-agency collaboration, requiring various government agencies to work together to improve outcomes for children. It introduced mandatory reporting of child abuse for certain professionals and emphasised the importance of keeping children safe within their families and communities.
