most heal by themselves but can treat with grommets or adenoidectomy if its a polyp blocking the eustachian tube

Aural microsuction
Topical antibiotics
Don’t let water get in ear
What is the treatment of acute otitis media with painful discharging ear in a child
Treat with amoxicillin
Grommets and adenoidectomy if required
What is the presentation of a cholesteatoma
Chronic discharging ear with foul smell - the cholesteatoma produces oil which is very bad for the ossicles so the hearing becomes affected
What is teh treatment for a cholesteatoma
Mastoidectomy
What is the treatment of a choanal atresia
Putting stents in to keep it open since choanal atresia is a congenital condition where the nasal cavity is not open
What is the presentation of epiglottitis
Quiet, febrile and drooling child who looks very unwell
What to do when child presents with epiglottitis
Do not examine!! - can irritate and cause more swelling which can be fatal
Get senior anaesthetist to incubate immediately
