Medical complications of obesity
- Pulmonary = sleep apnoea, asthma
- CV = hypertension, dislipidaemia
- Musculosketal = slipped capital femoral epiphysis
- Endocrine = T2D, PCOS, metabolic syndrome( >97%ile, high HDL, high BP)
- GI =NAFLD (75% OF CHILDREN!)
- Psychological = social isolation
Who should consider VERY LOW ENERGY DIET
- adolescent with severe obesity, and related comorbidities
- Not achieved weight loss through conventional approaches
What does VLED consist of??
Intense
Short term
