What is the centre of mass?
A
Is the point at which its mass can be thought of as being cocentrated

Why is an object at equilbrium?
A
Because the centre of mass is directly below the point of suspension - its weight does not exert a turning effect on the object

What does it mean if an object is freely suspended?
A
If it returns to its equilibrium position after the turning force is taken away
