What is a lever used for?
A
As a force multiplier which exerts a greater force applied to the lever by the effort

A
To change the moment of the turning effect

What happens if a low gear is chosen?
A
Small gear drives the large gear wheel - so output shaft turns slower than engine shaft
Turning effect of the output shaft is greater than the turning effect of the engine shaft

A
Gives low speed and high turning effect

What happens if a high gear is chosen?
A
Large gear wheel driven by engine shaft is used to turn gear wheel on the output shaft
Force of smaller gear acts nearer to the shaft than the force of the larger gear - turning effect is reduced
