people lose their jobs and so turn to crime, more people move to wealthier areas for lower crime rate, population decreases

local shops get less customers
people spend less money
less skilled workforce means low investor confidence in area
What are the environmental impacts of urban deprivation
buildings eventually decline
derelection of industrial premise (factories)
more wasteland
increase of burglary, vandalism
Methods used for research:
What has the data you collected tell you?
Shop survey showed us that the more high order shops there are, the more affluent the area, Canary Wharf had 6 MOG and many banks but All Saints had more MOGs and HOGs because we saw more of those.
Environmental Quality Survey showed that all sites mainly scored zero from -2 - 2 whereas Canary Wharf scored 1/2
Secondary data: Google Earth and Index of Multiple deprivation, 0.54 compared to 50 in All Saints
Evaluate your methods:
Strengths: EQS was easy and accessible, all 3 sites were done which led us to draw a clear conclusion
however was subjective
How does the quality of the environment compare
Radar Graph shows us that C.W has more green areas and less graffiti
open space check showed that trees are more common in Canary Wharf but All Saints had them but they were less “manicured”
How does the quality of the economy compare
There are more High Order Goods in Canary Wharf but we didn’t see most of them
More expensive shops in Canary Wharf but more Low Order Goods in All Saints
How does residential quality compare?
Canary Wharf had better residential quality and All Saints had more deterioration
more modern in C.W but more expensive
Overall Canary Wharf had better quality
