AE of Finasteride
> 10%: Impotence, Reduced libido
1-10%: Gynecomastia, Dizziness
<1%: HF, Angioedema, Allergic skin reaction, Male breast cancer, Prostate cancer (high grade)
AE of Tamsulosin
> 10%: dizziness, headache, abnorm EJAC, Rhinitis
1-10%: SLEEPY, Edema, Vertigo, Hypotension, Nausea
<1%: Retinal Detachment, Priapism
toxicity: Finasteride
BREAST AND PROSTATE CANCER
PSA, Breast pain, Breast of prostate cancer development
Patient counsel: Finasteride
hair loss: take 3 mo
BPH: take 6 mo
pregnant: AVOID - prevent genitalia development & Semen!
Report: SOB, Breast mass
clinical pearl: finasteride
PSA: decrease by 50%
Hazardous
toxicity: Tamsulosin
hypotension, BP
Patient counsel: Tamsulosin
-Admin: 30 min after same meal daily! (fasting will increase F 30%)
-orthostatic hypotension
clinical pearl: Tamsulosin
HTN & BPH: do not take w/ other alpha-blockers
AE of Hydroxychloroquine
> 10%:
1-10%: abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, headache, nausea, dizziness, visual disturbances, hyperpigmentation
<1%: Arrhythmias, Cardiomyopathy, SJS, agran, seizure, retinopathy, psychosis
Toxicity: Hydroxychloroquine
EYE EXAM! -difficultyq seeing
-heart palp., rash, bruise/bleed
Patient counsel: Hydroxychloroquine
take same day/week
-w/food or milk
clinical pearl: hydroxychloroquine
AMMONIUM CHLORIDE for AE or OD
