Oxygen Flashcards
The aircraft has separate oxygen
bottles for crew and passengers. How
are the bottles connected and
serviced?
Through a common line
What’s the location of oxygen service
panel?
Right side of aircraft opposite the main
door
When does overboard discharge
occur?
High pressure or high temperature
Where are oxygen control panels
located?
On flight deck: one controls oxygen to
cockpit and one controls oxygen to
passengers.
At what cabin altitude do passenger
masks automatically deploy?
When sensed cabin altitude reaches
approximately 14,750 feet with HIGH
ALT switch in normal and approximately
15,750 feet with HIGH ALT switch
selected (i.e., lighted)
What kind of test is performed with
the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET
control switch on oxygen mask
storage box?
Leak check
What would indicate a leak in the
oxygen system while pressing and
holding the PRESS TO TEST AND
RESET control switch?
Blinker remains yellow
When mask is removed from storage
container, what activates the shutoff
valve?
The open doors
How is mask microphone activated?
By selecting MIC knob on COMM
JACKS panel to MASK
What’s the difference between oxygen
selections of NORMAL and 100% on
the mask/regulator?
In NORMAL, you get diluted oxygen and
with 100% selected, you get undiluted
oxygen
What’s the difference between
selections of NORMAL (fully
counterclockwise) and EMERGENCY
(fully clockwise)?
In NORMAL, it allows regulator to
provide diluter-demand flow, and in
EMERGENCY position, it sets regulator
to provide constant pressure of undiluted
oxygen.
How can tension in mask harness be
adjusted to make it more comfortable?
By using comfort toggle on front of mask:
it has two stops.
What action must passengers perform
to get oxygen to flow into passenger
mask retaining bag?
Pull on lanyard to remove flow pin
The crewmember Protective
Breathing Equipment (PBE) is a selfcontained, portable, personal
breathing device designed to
safeguard the wearer from the effects
of smoke, carbon dioxide, harmful
gases, and oxygen deficiency while
managing in-flight fire, smoke or
fume emergencies. How many are on
the aircraft?
Two: one installed in flight deck and the
other is installed in vicinity of baggage
compartment.
