Overview of Upper Extremity Flashcards
Describe Scapulohumeral Rhythm
Every 2 degrees of glenohumeral motion = 1 degree of scapulothoracic movement (sternoclavicular, acromioclavicular, scapulothroacic)
Which carpal bones does the distal radius articulate with?
The Radiocarpal joint (synovial)
- Scaphoid
- Lunate
- Triquetrum
What is between the ulna and the proximal row of carpals?
fibrocartilaginous articular disc
What does the superficial fascia of the arm contain?
- Fat
- Cutaneous nerves
- Superficial veins
- Lymphatic vessels
- Lymph nodes
What connect the superficial veins to the deep veins?
Perforating veins
Where does the cephalic vein drain after entering the deltopectoral triangle?
Cephalic vein drains into the axillary vein
What does the basilic vein join to form the axillary vein?
brachial veins + basilic vein = axillary vein
Where does the median cubital vein arise from?
Cephalic vein (then drains into the basilic vein)
Where do superficial lymph vessels accompanying the cephalic vein drain?
axillary lymph nodes
Where do superficial lymph vessels accompanying the basilic vein drain?
Superficial lymph vessels following basilic first drain into the cubital lymph nodes then drain into the axillary lymph nodes
Where do deep lymphatic vessels drain?
Deep lymph accompany deep veins then drain into axillary lymph nodes
Where do superficial tissues superior to the umbilicus drain?
Axillary lymph nodes
What together form the brachial plexus?
ventral rami C5-T1
