Post-op instructions for composite resin should include the following points:

-Approx how long numbness from the local anesthetic is expected to remain and a reminder not to bite or chew the soft tissue in the area.
-Any food desired can be eaten as soon as the patient feels comfortable with eating, as the material has set to it’s full strength.
-There may be some sensitivity to hot and cold for several days, but it should decrease over time.
- Call the office if the bite feels incorrect or if the sensitivity increases over time.
- Composite resin is slightly porous and may become stained over time by coffee, tea or tobacco - these stains can be removed during cleaning appointments.
- Show the patient the restoration with a hand mirror.
