Describe the Pathogenesis

A

Kittens and puppies are easily infested - contact with dam

In cats - dry, waxy parchment like material in ears with large number of
mites

Common cause of otitis externa

Irritation

Large amounts of cerumen
- Along with mite debris and blood becomes thick, dark and dry
giving appearance of “coffee grounds”
- Discharge in dogs usually minimal
