usually on the ball of foot, underside of big toe or heel
multiple black spots may be visible
may cause discomfort if they press on nerves
Verruca
CAUSES
Caused by HPV, which gets into the skin through a cut or minor abrasion
MANAGEMENT/TREATMENT
usually clears in time
freeze treatments
formic acids (treats warts on hands, feet, elbow and knees)
products containing salicylic
acid
usually symptoms between fourth and fifth toe
skin appears red and itchy
later becomes white, inflamed
may crack, peel and be sore
may spread to toenails

CAUSES
fungal skin infection
easily passed from person to person by small flakes or infected skin shed from feet
MANAGEMENT/TREATMENT
feet should be washed daily with soap and dried thoroughly
clotrimazole
daktarin aktiv cream
canesten bifonazole
lamisil 1%
may affect one nail or several nails
nail may look thickened or discoloured
white or yellow patches may appear
nail may become soft and crumble

MANAGEMENT/TREATMENT
amorolfine nail lacquer (kills fungus completely)- 18 years or over only
curanail 5%
smalls area of thickened skin
found on top of smaller toes
soft corns found between toes
hard and rough skin
yellowish in colour

pressure or rubbing of skin
wearing high heels
uncomfortable shoes
sporting activities
MANAGEMENT
Advised not to cut corns themselves
