other Flashcards
AS/NZS 5601 Part 2 gives ventilation requirements that are specific to a 90 litre gas
refrigerator installed in a caravan.
(i) Give TWO conditions regarding the ventilation that must be met.
- Behind the appliance
- Vented to outside
- One above the absorption fins
- One at low level
Identify the TWO components of the regulator that may need to be changed and give a reason for each. Assume all other equipment is suitable for the increased throughput.
Orifice
To allow a greater flow
Spring
To provide greater resistance
Give THREE reasons why an appliance would require combustion air to be ducted from outside.
- Flammable vapours present.
- Appliance is installed in a confined space where alternative ventilation is not possible.
- Ventilation or fans interfering with the combustion air.
- Manufacturer’s requirement.
A gas-fired ducted central heating furnace has developed a fault. The customer is complaining of headaches and a strange smell when the furnace is operating.
(i) Give the most likely explanation for the fault.
A hole or crack in the heat exchanger.
Give TWO probable situations which would allow this fault to occur
- Burners were incorrectly located heat exchanger was over heated.
- Movement/expansion stresses.
- Corrosion of the heat exchanger.
