Osteology of leg Flashcards
What are the structures to locate on your femur?
condyles, epicondyles, intercondylar fossa, patellar articular surface, adductor tubercle
What are the structures to locate on your tibia?
condyles, intercondylar eminence, tibial tuberosity, facet for fibular head, soleal line, interosseus membrane attachment, fibular notch, medial malleolus
What are structure to locate on your fibular?
head,
shaft,
lateral malleolus,
interosseus membrane attachment
What is the proximal tibia-fibular joint?
synovial and allows limited rotation of fibula around long axis
What is the function of the interosseus membrane?
unites tibia and fibula along most of their length,
What does the inerosseus membrane have?
hiatuses proximal and distal for transmission of vessels
What is the distal tibiofibular joint?
fibrous, essentially a thickening of the interosseus membrane, and allows some limited rotation of the fibula
What is the talk-crural joint?
talus is morticed between distal tibia and fibula, weight bearing exclusively through tibia. Movements principally dorsi/plantar flexion, with small amount of abduction/adduction possible
Where is the weight bearing in the talo-crural joint?
weight bearing exclusively through tibia.
What are the principal movements in the talk-crural joints?
Movements principally dorsi/plantar flexion, with small amount of abduction/adduction possible
