Q

Points for transport(x6)

A

•At GR- motorway/A road- allow customers travel quickly to business- even during busy times- these roads built to accommodate heavy traffic- encourage customers to travel to location- project more successful
OR
•At GR- motorway/A road- employees travel quickly even during busy times- roads built to accommodate heavy traffic- help employees arrive to work on time- helps business perform better

•At GR- B road- additional traffic flow related to new project may cause congestion and safety issues- not designed to take heavy traffic- could cause conflict with local residents(GR) commuting locally
OR
•At GR- minor road- heavy vehicles during construction could damage the minor roads- cause large pot holes- costly for council (claims and repairs)

  • At GR- train station about …km away- easy walking distance- customers/employees who don’t drive can still travel to project
  • At GR-no access road to site- minor road need to be built(..km length)- additional cost- destroy natural vegetation and wildlife habitats

Q

Points for labour/local housing estate(x5)

A
  • At GR- housing estate- local source of labour during construction and employees for project business- help locals be more positive about project- minimising conflict
  • At GR- housing estate close(..km)- conflict with people living there during construction- heavy vehicles passing by- site construction cause dust go over windows and washing- lots of noise during week days
  • At GR- house prices decrease during construction due to noise and safety issues- prices increase once business is successful- more demand for houses in local area
  • At GR- school- increase in heavy construction vehicles- increase in traffic caused when business up and running- locals concerned about safety of children walking to school/crossing roads- more children dropped off at school by car - more local congestion
  • At GR- school- problems for business during start and finish times of school- large number of students dropped off and picked up by car + slow moving school buses causing additional congestion- delay deliveries/ make difficult for customers/staff to access business between these times

Q

Points for business (x5)

A
  • Local business at GR- benefit from contracts with project during construction/working with business when up and running- multiplier effect- local businesses perform better and employ services of other local businesses
  • At GR- also means need to take on more staff- more people earning in area- spend money in local businesses(GR) leading to chain reaction- further investment and services in area
  • At GR- some of these contracts with other businesses may be temporary(only during construction)-new jobs created may require specific skill sets so appropriate new staff may have to be hired from places out with local area
  • At GR- hotel- benefit from construction workers in short term or clients working with project in long term staying at hotel- help business perform better and possibly allow the owner to expand the hotel business
  • At GR- pub- could benefit from increase in trade- workers might go there for lunch or to meet future clients for business meetings in a more relaxed environment than an office
