Kernig
pt complains hand is going numb and cold when held above head. Ortho test to evaluate funnel between pec minor and corocoid process
Wright
- pain/paresthesia, decreased or absent pulse, pallor
- compression of axillary artery by pec minor or coracoid. TOS
pt complains of severe posterior thigh pain. Ortho test to evaluate SEVERE posterior thigh pain
Turyn (dorsiflex big toe)
- pain in gluteal region or radiating sciatic pain
- sciatic radiculopathy
pt complains of weakness in thumb opposition with tingling in the first 3 fingers. Ortho test
Prayers
pt complains of radiating pain into left arm when he turns to look right. Ortho test.
foraminal compression
- local cervical pain indicates foraminal encroachment without nerve root compression
- local cervical pain that radiates indicates foraminal encroachment with nerve root compression
pt complains of lateral chest pain when laterally flexing
Schepllmanns
- pain on concave side= intercostal neuritis
- pain on convex side= inflammation of pleura
pt complains of radiating pain down the posterior thigh and leg.
SLR
complains of radiating pain when coughs, sneezes, or strains.
Valsalva
complains of forefoot pain when wearing tight fitting shoes
Mortons
complains of tingling in the hands while working overhead
Roos
- ischemic pain, heaviness of arms, numbness/tingling of hand
- TOS on side involved
complains of weak abdominal muscles during chrunches
Milgrams
complains of pain at medial malleolus going into the medial foot
Tinel foot
- paresthesia radiating into foot
- tarsal tunnel syndrome
complains of posterior thigh pain. Ortho test to diff bt sciatic radiculopathy and tight hamstrings
SLR
complains of local cervical pain
foraminal compression
- local cervical pain indicates foraminal encroachment without nerve root compression
- local cerivcal pain that radiates indcates cervical compression with nerve root compression
radiating pain from straining. Ortho test to diff bt medial from lateral disc lesion
Kemps
- pain leaning toward involved side is lateral cord lesion
- pain when leaning away from involved side is medial disc lesion
