Rapid rhythmic alternating alternating patting on their own lap. As fast as possible.
Superficial Reflex: Plantar Test
Stiff stroke to sole of patients feet w/ handle of Hammer. Start at heels, lateral to medial.

Visceral Reflex: Occulocardiac Test
NO CONTACTS. Establish pulse, use thumb to add slight pressure on closed eyes.

Flat side of hammer to back of elbow.
response: elbow extension

Dr. dorsiflexes patients foot quickly and releases. Support back of calf w/ other hand.
Cranial Exam: A patient presents in your office with complaint of eye pain in bright light. He states that his peripheral vision seems to be decreased.
- STATE THE APPROPRIATE C.N. TO BE TESTED.
- PERFORM ALL PROCEDURES AND STATE ALL SENSORY, MOTOR, AND INTEGRATION CENTER FOR ANY REFLEX PERFORMED.

Nerve Root Eval: A patient complains of left shoulder pain. He thinks it my be related to the weakness he has been experiencing in his left arm when he does curls in the gym.
- STATE APPROPRIATE NERVE ROOT LEVEL.
- STATE APPROPRIATE DISC LEVEL.
- PERFORM RELATED MUSCLE TESTS (state muscles and innervations), DEEP TENDON REFLEX & SENSORY EXAM.
Nerve root: C5
Disc level: C4
Muscle test: Shoulder abduction: Deltoid (Axillary N.)
Forearm flexion: Biceps (Musculocutaneous N.)
Reflex: Biceps (point of hammer on Dr.’s thumb)
Sensory: C4, C5, C6: Nape of neck, lateral arm, lateral forearm and first two fingers.
Ortho Exam: A patient complains of tinging in the hands while working overhead
- STATE & PERFORM AN APPROPRIATE ORTHO TEST TO TEST THE SCALENE TRIANGLE.
Adson Test
Patient seated, elbows extended at side. Find Radial pulse, slightly abduct affected arm and past midline, patient takes deep breath; holds, rotate head towards Dr. ; elevate chin (negative rotate head to opposite side)
Pain &/or paresthesia, decreased or absent pulse, pallor.
Compression of neuromuscular bundle by scalenus anticus or cervical rib.
