Identifying sports talent
A
UK Sport runs talent recruitment and talent confirmation programmes, to search for talent. Athletes submit an application to UK Sport who invite successful applicants to phase 1 testing event.

Phase 1 of testing
A
- Physical and skills based tests
- E.g. sprints, jumps, aerobic fitness

Phase 2-3 of testing
A
- Test of suitability for the sport
- Physical and medical screening and psychological workshops

Phase 4 of testing
A
- Confirmation phase
- Selected athletes train over 6-12 months. They’re assessed continuously to see if level of performance is suitable for elite performance

World Class Programme
A
World class programme operates at two distinct levels.
1. Podium - supporting athletes with realistic medal winning capabilities at next Para/Olympics
2. Podium Potential - Supporting athletes who may have potential to win at future events
