probably raised same as regular but are fed without bugs
certified organic eggs
usually not caged and fed according to organic standards, might not have access to outdoors, vegetarian diet, de-beaked
cage free
not caged but usually don’t have access to outdoors, engage in natural behaviors, de-beaking permitted
free range
not in cages, some access to outdoors but no regulation on amount, engage in natural behaviors, de-beaking allowed
natural
meaningless label, no certification or oversight; raised same as regular eggs
omega-3 enriched
no bearing on living conditions of chickens; diet higher in omega-3s usually flaxseeds; may be raised same as regular chickens
pastured
typically only available direct from farmer, used to indicate chickens are allowed full access to room in pastures; not same as free range
should meat be organic?
yes or sustainable; avoid antibiotics and pesticides, arsenic in chicken feed
