Organelles Flashcards
Golgi apparatus
Membrane sacs stacked on top of each other, modifies proteins and packages them in vesicles
Mitochondria
Double membranous. Releases energy for the cell through cell respiration
Nucleus
Contains mostly DNA, separated from cytoplasm by nuclear membrane
Lysosome
Spheres that contain enzymes which break down proteins. Breaks down materials taken into the cell
Cytoskeleton
Consists of microtubules that gives shape to the cell and helps with movement of materials
Ribosomes
Mostly attached to membranes ( ER )or in the cytoplasm amino acids join together to make proteins
ER
Membranes that connect to membrane with nuclear membrane. chemical reactions occur on it stores/transports materials
Vesicle
Sac that transports materials in, out or within cell.
Cell membrane
Separates the cell from surroundings with a structure (fluid mosaic model). allows for the movement of materials into and out of the cell by diffusion, facilitated diffusion, osmosis, active transport and vesicular transport
