ex: stomach, kidneys
excretory system
kidneys, bladder, and urethra remove nitrogen containing wastes from blood and maintain osmotic balance
circulatory system
transports oxygen and nutrients throughout body, carries away wastes and carbon dioxide
digestive system
- ingests food
- breaks down into small units and absorbs
- eliminates wastes
respiratory system
oxygen brought into body and allows carbon dioxide to leave the body
endocrine system
endocrine glands secrete hormones into blood that regulate other activities
lymphatic system
- supplements cardiovascular system

reproductive system
- ovaries and testes produce female/male gametes
- help in fertilization and embryo development
nervous system
- brain, spinal cord, nerves and sense organs work together with endocrine system
- sense environment, affect responses, coordinate body activities
skeletal system
- bones and cartilage provide support and protection
- skin, hair, and nails protect internal body parts from injury and infections
what is digestion
chemical and physical process of breaking down large food molecules into smaller ones absorbed by the body
