Q

What is the function of the integumentary system?

A
  • Protection, covers the body
  • Produces vitamin D with sunlight
  • Excretes salts in perspiration
  • Helps regulate body temperature

Q

What is the function of the endocrine system?

A

Produces hormones and releases them into the blood to travel to target organs.
Hormones control growth, reproduction and use of nutrients by cells

Q

What is the function of the lymphatic system?

A

When fluid is leaked into tissues from the blood, lymphatic vessels return it to the bloodsteam so that there is enough blood to continuously circulate through the body.
The lymph nodes and other lymphoid organs help to cleanse the blood and house white blood cells involved in immunity.

Q

What is the function of the respiratory system?

A

Keep body supplied with oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.
Gases are exchanged with the blood through the thin walls of these alveoli.

17
Q

What does the respiratory system consist of?

A
  • Nasal passages
  • Pharynx
  • Larynx
  • Trachea
  • Bronchi
  • Lungs
  • Alveoli
18
Q

What is the function of the digestive system?

A

Break down food for dispersal to body cells

19
Q

What does the digestive system consist of?

A

Mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, rectum, liver, salivary glands, pancreas, anus, gall bladder

20
Q

What is the function of the urinary system?

A

Disposal of waste products.
Maintains the body’s water and salt (electrolyte) balance.
Regulates the acid-based balance of the blood.
Helps regulate normal blood pressure.

A

To produce offspring
