The Procedures (EAP) master file is where the records for all non-medication orders are stored.
This includes orders that are not actual procedures, such as an Ambulatory Referral.

The Medication (ERX) master file is where the records for all medications are stored.
Each strength and form (tablet, suspension, etc.) combination requires a separate record.

The Orders (ORD) master file stores order-specific information when an end user signs an order.

Items (in regards to Order Sets) are the third layer of the Order Set, which is the actual order itself.

Items are found in the Order Set’s SmartGroups.

Sections (in regards to Order Sets) are the different groups that are listed when looking at a n Order Set.

Order Panel / Order Group (OSQ)

Order Panels allow users to place a number of orders for a specific reason at the same time.

Some panels have groups of orders inside of them and are used as a decision tree.

Order Set / SmartSet (PRL)

Order Sets contain sections, SmartGroups, and items.

They are used to guide through an ordering process that’s much more complex than what an Order Panel should contain.

Preference List (LPF)

Preference Lists are built so that end users have the orders they need available to them.
These lists effectively limit the orders that are displayed to only the ones that end users have access to.

End users are able to add orders to their personal preference list if they choose to.
