Epic’s Patient Portal
Provides patients with convenient access to their health information.
Multi-Provider Schedule
The main schedule that shows for those working in a clinic department, this shows patients scheduled with various providers from that department.
Track Board
The display that shows patients when logged in as a provider.
ED Manager
An activity in Hyperspace that allows for providers to move / manage patients in the ED.
Patient Lists
A tab within Hyperspace that shows the list of patients.
Bed Planning
An activity that allows bed planners to view bed requests, the progress on getting beds available for patients, and capacity information.
Navigator
An activity designed to walk nurses through certain processes in Hyperspace.
Narrator
Where most documentation can be done within Hyperspace. Narrators are tools used for high acuity situations, such as a code / stroke.
Patient Status (in ED)
Patient Status in regards to ED refers to the current status of the patient after certain milestones are completed.
Ex: Actions such as indicating that the patient has “Arrived”, indicating a Chief Complaint, documenting that Triage is complete, putting the patient in a room/bed, and assigning a Provider will all change the patient’s status.
Bed Request
A request to room a patient that is seen / handled by Bed Planning.
Admission Order
Orders that are placed when a patient is admitted. These orders are normally signed and held, and they will not be active until they are released by the receiving unit.
Discharge Order
Orders that are placed when the patient is discharged.
Order Reconciliation
The process of identifying the most accurate list of medications / orders that the patient has.
In other words, confirming that the hospital’s list of medications / orders matches what the patient is actually taking.
Discharge Milestones
Used to provide a good indication of when a bed will become available for the bed planner to assign another patient. Milestones are completed by other users (such as the provider / nurse) that are actively working with the patient.
