  1. Yellow-blood cultures, sterile
  2. Light Blue-coagulation tests, always drawn before
    anticoagulation or clot activators, fill
    completely
  3. Red
  4. Gold-contain clot activators
  5. Green-contains heparin
  6. Lavender-contains EDTA, binds metals, can give false
    high calcium or false low potassium
  7. Grey-contains potassium oxalate, elevates potassium
    in electrolyte analysis, oxalate damages cell
    membranes, and sodium fluoride elevated sodium
    levels and inhibits many enzymes.
