A
Candida albicans

A
Fungus - yeast
Normal body floral in skin, mouth, vagina + intestines

Symptoms of oral thrush in adults
A
- Red mouth with white patches > wiping away patches causes red, bleeding spots
- corner mouth cracks
- pain
- inability to taste

Symptoms of oral thrush in babies
A
- White coating on tongue - can’t be rubbed off easily
- not feeding
- nappy rash

How does thrush occur?
A
When competing bacterial flora are eliminated (e.g. by antibiotics) > allows yeast to overgrow
