A

Fungus - yeast
Normal body floral in skin, mouth, vagina + intestines

Symptoms of oral thrush in adults

A
  • Red mouth with white patches > wiping away patches causes red, bleeding spots
  • corner mouth cracks
  • pain
  • inability to taste

A
  • White coating on tongue - can’t be rubbed off easily
  • not feeding
  • nappy rash

How does thrush occur?

A

When competing bacterial flora are eliminated (e.g. by antibiotics) > allows yeast to overgrow
