What is Nicorandril?
Medication for angina - Potassium channel activator
What is an oral side effect of Nicorandril?
Oral ulceration shortly after first use or dose increase
What is the most common form on orofacial pain?
Toothache
What medication is used to treat trigeminal neuralgia?
Carbamazepine
What is trigeminal neuralgia?
Sudden sharp pain, usually unilateral
‘Recurrent episodes of pain in the distribution of one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve’
How it trigeminal neuralgia diagnosed?
With an MRI scan
What could be the underlying causes for trigeminal neuralgia?
Cyst
Benign/malignant tumour pressing on nerve
What is burning mouth syndrome?
Idiopathic burning discomfort or pain affecting people with clinically normal oral mucosa in who a medical or dental cause has been excluded
Why medications are used to treat burning mouth syndrome?
Amitryptiline
Gabapentin
What % of the population is effected by lichen planus?
