- healthy gingiva - light pink
- no plaque build up
- no inflammation at gingival margins
- no staining
- no food debris
- no bleeding of gums when brushing

What would you do if a patients presents with bad oral hygiene during fixed appliance treatment?
A
- go through oral hygiene instructions with patient and stress the importance of good oral hygiene
- if there is no improvement on the next visit remove arch wires
- again if there is no improvement - premature debond
