What is a complex airplane? What is needed to operate?
Complex airplane is one with retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch prop.

What is meant by Category, Class, and Type
Category - broad classificaiton of aircraft - airplane, rotorcraft, glider
Class - classification of aircraft within a category that have similar operating characteristics - SEL, MEL
TYpe - specific make and basic model of aircraft
How to remain current as PP?
Biannual flight review
three takeoffs and landings in previous 90 days to carry passengers
to carry at night, takeoffs and landings must be made one hour after sunset and one hour prior to sunrise
What medical needed, expiration?
3rd class, 36 months if under 40, 24 months if over 40
What documents must be onboard prior to flight?!
(A) irworthiness cert
(R) egistration cert
(O) operating manual or limitations
(W) weight and balance
How might a pilot determine if the aircraft is equipped with a Mode C transponder?
By referencing the curent weight and balance equipment list
Who is responsible for ensuring that an aircaft is maintained in an airworthy condition?
Owner or operator
Who is responsbile for determine if an aircraft is airworthy after repair?
The PIC
HOw can one check tif the owner or operator has complied with all required inspections and airworthiness directives?
The maintenance records (aircraft and engine logbooks)
How long does an Airworthiness Certificate remain valid?
Remains in effect as long as the aircraft receives the required maintenance and is proeprly registered in the U.S.
What are the required maintenance inspections for aircraft?
(1) Annual - within the preceding 12 months
(2) 100 hours - if carrying any person for hire or giving flight instruction for hire
Under what condition may an aircraft continue to operate beyond 100 hours without a new inspection?
May be exceeded by not more than 10 hours while en route to a place where the inspection can be done
