Gangs of working-class youths that opposed Nazism and the war.
When were the Edelweiss Pirates active?

What did the Edelweiss Pirates do?
They would meet up and play jazz music, go on walks and hand out leaflets in town. Some would hunt down members of the Hitler Youth and beat them up.
How did the Nazis deal with the Edelweiss Pirates?
Many were sent to concentration camps or prison. In 1944, twelve members were hanged by the Nazis for their actions.

A small group of university students lead by Sophie and Hands Scholl.

They spread anti-Nazi messages in the form of graffiti and handing out leaflets.

Hans and Sophie Scholl were arrested, tortured and then executed. The group was then disbanded.

Members of the Protestant Church who had broken away from the Reich Church to form their own church.

Martin Niemoller set it up to oppose Nazism. He spoke out against Nazi policies and taught ministers that the Nazi regime was evil and should be opposed
How did the Nazis deal with the Confessional Church?
Niemoller was arrested and sent to a concentration camp. Bonhoffer was also arrested and sent to a concentration camp. He was executed by the SS in 1945
What was the July Bomb Plot?
A group of upper-class army officers that plotted to assassinate Hitler using a bomb in a briefcase.
Who created the July Bomb Plot Plan?
Claus von Stauffenberg.
How did the Nazis deal with the July Bomb Plot?
Hitler arrested and executed around 5000 known opponents, including von Stauffenberg.
