What is a performer?
Someone who takes part in dance or gymnastics for instance.
What is a player?
A person who takes part in a games activity.
How can you bring about improvements to your performance?
You need good knowledge of the particular activity and skills, tactics, playing positions, techniques and moves.
What are tactics?
Pre-arranged and rehearsed strategies or methods of play
What is technique?
The manner or way in which someone carries out or performs a particular skill.
What is the role of an organiser?
Bringing together all of the main ingredients at the right time, in the right place, in order to maximise promotion, participation and high quality performance.
What must an organiser do?
They have to be competent in managing and organising available facilities, time, personnel and funds. They will undertake a large range of duties and responsibilities.
What is the role of a leader/coach?
This is a specialist in the activity, responsible for preparing a player in skill acquisition, correct technique, physical or mental state. They influence people by setting goals or they act as role models for behaviour in sport.
What does a leader/coach need?
Different style of leadership and basic communication skills.
What is a choreographer?
A designer or arranged of some sort of staged dance, ballet or other performance and applies specifically to exploring and communicating ideas, concepts and emotions.
What should choreographers be aware of?
Techniques of choreography and they should be able to assess levels or standards of performance.
What is the role of an official?
To control the activity, interprets the rules, laws or regulations of the activity and checks equipment.
What are the different types of officials?
Referee/umpire, judge, marshal/steward and scorer/timekeeper/recorder.
What is vital for an official?
That you know the rules of the activity that you are going to be involved in.
How is English linked to PE?
Specialised vocabulary, speaking and listening skills and using English to write a clear examination answer.
