Timing of eyelid fusion and separation?

Eyelids fuse during week 8 of embryonic development and begin to separate at 22 weeks PMA, and this process can take 3-6 weeks to complete.
Eyelid separation occurs on average 5.5 days (range 1-21 days) after birth, irrespective of GA at birth
