Aplasia cutis congenita: define, risk of associated anomalies?

A
Single, small 1-2 cm flat, round, hairless absence of skin area on the scalp, usually off-center near the occiput. 0.3% of newborns. Additional congenital anomalies occur in 20-25% of patients with cutis aplasia. More likely when the lesion is outside of the scalp on the trunk or extremities, when it is thin membranous cutis aplasia, or when there is a ring of dark hair around it.
