Operant Conditioning Flashcards
Stimulus Discrimination is
when an organism makes a response to a stimulus for which reinforcement is obtained but not for any other similar stimulus.
Which schedules of reinforcement is the most resistant to extinction?
Variable Ratio Schedule
Continuous Reinforcement
When a correct response is reinforced every time it is given.
Fixed Ratio
Fixed number of correct responses ( paid $5 for every 100 newspapers delivered)
Variable Ratio
Variable number of correct responses (Poker Machines)
Fixed Interval
Fixed Time Period ( Teachers paid every fortnight)
Variable Interval
Variable Time Period (Fishing)
Repeated Measures Design
Each participant is part of both E and C group.
Matched Participants Design
Enables a researcher to identify a variable that is likely to eliminate the effects of this variable from the experiment. They will be ranked then allocated to the respective groups.
Independent Groups Design
Allocates participants to either the E or C group at random.
Random Sampling
is in which every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected.
Random Allocation
means that all participants who have been selected for an experiment must have an equal chance of being in E or C group.
