OPEN OFFICE SHL pulses for flashcards - TY, SY, JY

1
Q

Ren Shen Tang/Li Zhong Wan 1

A

Right guan deep and wiry (weak spleen).

This is a spleen that is weak and wet. The wiry is from rheum/dampness rather than wood overacting on earth.

Q

Ren Shen Tang/Li Zhong Wan 2

A

Both hands deep thin.

Deep and thin applies to all Yin conformation pulses - in Shao Yin want more faintness, and in Jue Yin want more wiriness or expiring. In the absence of faint, wiry or expiring could also be deep thin soggy.

Q

Gui Zhi Ren Shen Tang

A

Left cun floating moderate with right guan deep wiry or deep thin.

LZW pulse on the right hand and GZ pulse on the left. Lots of upward surging of yang so can see some slipperiness on the left cun – floating weak and slippery.

Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang 1

A

Right guan wiry and slippery.

Wood overacting on earth. Right guan wiry is Bai Shao pulse. Slippery is from heat in the stomach from the wind of the wood.

Q

Xiao Jian Zhong Tang

A

Yang pulse (left cun) unsmooth, yin pulse (right guan) wiry.

Commonly this is right guan wiry, left pulses generally weak. This is already a taxation pulse. The left pulses drop and the right pulses lift (and have a wiry edge). Can also have a left cun floating and weak indicating Gui Zhi.

HQJZT would be bigger on the right, which would mean smaller on the left. DGJZT would have a deep wiry Dang Gui pulse on the left guan with big wiry right guan.

Q

Si Ni Tang 3

A

Slow (cold solid organs).

Slow is a Fu Zi indication, but it’s good to do a GZ/FZ combined formula. The GZ strengthens the heart yang directly which regulates the speed of the pulse.

Q

Si Ni Tang 4

A

Big but forceless.

Would be difficult to identify this as SNT. Might get this with severe down pour diarrhea.

Q

Ma Huang Xi Xin Fu Zi Tang 1

A

Both hands tight deep thin.

Same pulse as ZWT, differentiate by sx. MHXXFZT has respiratory sx.

Standard MHXXFZT is deep pulses with fever and no sweating.
In a MHXXFZT there is likely to be more tightness on the right cun and on the left chi (but not always). Right cun tightness for the MH lung closure and left chi tightness for lack of yang in the kidneys.

17
Q

Ma Huang Xi Xin Fu Zi Tang 2

A

Both hands deep weak and mildly thin.

Means deep weak faint and thin.

18
Q

Huang Lian E Jiao Tang

A

Deep thin rapid.

Can also have slippery right guan - HL pulse.

19
Q

Zhu Ling Tang

A

Deep thin slippery or soggy.

Deep thin soggy is emphasis is on dampness. Deep thin slippery is emphasis is on heat. Most of the slipperiness should be felt on the left chi because it’s in the lower burner.

20
Q

Dang Gui Si Ni Tang 1

A

Thin wiry, deep thin wiry.

Cold blood deficiency stasis. All pulses will be deep thin, but the wiriness should just be the left guan. This is a very weak wiry, it is not strong.

21
Q

Dang Gui Si Ni Tang 2

A

Deep thin with tendency towards expiring.

Particularly left guan. All pulses will be deep.

22
Q

Dang Gui Si Ni Jia Wu Zhu Yu Sheng Jiang Tang

A

Left guan deep thin wiry tight.

The expiring quality is masked by the tightness. The high dose of ginger should also produce a right cun tight.

23
Q

Wu Zhu Yu Tang

A

Left guan wiry, thin wiry or deep thin wiry.

Should also have some tightness. Bottom depth but less deep than DGSNJWZYSJT pulses.

Can be mistaken for a Chai Hu pulse. The wrong fx will make sx worse.

Right guan can also be wiry because of wind blowing on earth. Right guan can even become slippery because of the wind.

24
Q

Wu Mei Wan

A

Left guan big wiry often empty on the inside, sometimes left guan wiry tight.
